Background
The global shift toward sustainability has accelerated the need to realign Science, Technology, and Innovation (STI) with long-term environmental, social, and economic resilience. Industry 5.0 represents this new paradigm—going beyond automation and efficiency to embrace human-centric, sustainable, and purpose-driven innovation.
At the heart of this transformation lies ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) principles, which now serve as critical benchmarks for responsible growth. ASEAN industries are at a crossroads, where digital transformation must be matched with environmental and societal responsibility.
The Sustainable Ready for Industry 5.0 Program 2025 is the first of its kind in Brunei Darussalam. Organised under the flagship UTB-STE Connect 2025, it will spotlight the convergence of sustainability, technology, and industrial advancement while fostering ASEAN-wide collaboration for a green, inclusive, and resilient future.
Objectives
- Promote ASEAN cooperation on ESG-aligned industrial transformation
- Share best practices and technologies that support Industry 5.0 and low-carbon development
- Build technical capacity in green auditing and sustainability practices
- Encourage collaboration among government, academia, and industry
- Highlight solutions for the Blue and Green Economies within ASEAN
